I loved how easy it was to stroll to the Scarborough Art Gallery and enjoy the vibrant scenery along the way, while the stunning views from my room added to my weekend adventure in the scenic town.

The views from the upper floors provide a great perspective of the surrounding area, especially during sunrise. The large formal staircase gives a nod to the hotel's past grandeur, adding that touch of elegance upon entering.

The room felt a bit cramped with minimal storage, leaving little space for our bags. Dinner was buffet-style, which can be hit or miss—some items were overcooked or missing, particularly during busy hours, and the breakfast setup with a toaster that lacked a clean tray was less than ideal. While the bed offered comfort, the pillows could really use an upgrade, as they were overly stuffed, making them tough to manage. the place could benefit from some small updates and attention to detail in the dining service.

We appreciated the spacious family room with a lovely view and the buffet breakfast was diverse and enjoyable. The bar meal we ordered was hot and tasty, setting a nice tone for our stay.

My kids wished for more family-friendly activities. It would be great to have a kids’ club or something to keep them entertained on-site.

stayed at the royal for 2 nights and loved the recreational amenities like the health club and indoor pool. the location was a sweet 10-minute walk to the seafront, making it super convenient. the breakfast buffet was decent, and the grandeur of the hotel really added charm to our stay.

I enjoyed my stay at Royal, especially the fine Victorian lobby and its charming atmosphere. The sea view from my room, while slightly obstructed, added a lovely touch. A musty smell was present, which could be improved.

The entrance and reception areas left a strong impression, while the buffet breakfast offered a satisfying variety, including delicious soup. the evening dining experience fell short, with food quality needing significant improvement. the inconsistency of the reception staff ranged from helpful to borderline rude, detracting from an otherwise enjoyable stay. Finally, navigating to the room was cumbersome due to long corridors and an out-of-order lift.
